What A Tree Trimmer Can Teach You About Your Web Business

The other twenty-four hours I got a knocking on my door. A immature adult male introduced himself as Tim and said he had trimmed the trees for the former proprietor 2 old age ago... even mentioned them by name.

He then pointed down the street and said, "My crew is just finishing up over at Ron's house. We've been doing all his work for 4 old age now. And I noticed you have got got subdivisions that have started to harm your roof and are also growing into your neighbor's trees. And since my whole crew is already here, if you desire to take attention of it this afternoon, I can give you a really good price."

I looked down the street and waved to Ron. "Well, I cognize I necessitate it", I said. "But how much are we talking about here?".

Well, we walked around the pace and talked and bandied about terms for a few minutes. Then I agreed.

A couple hours later, the work was done and he did a fantastic job. The topographic point looked great and he cleaned it all up as neat as a pin. He even fixed two of my sprinkler caputs at no charge. I was a happy client and there is absolutely no uncertainty he'll be getting more than work from me in the future.

Well, you're asking, "What in the human race makes this have got to make with making a life on the Internet?" The reply is, "quite a bit". Let's return a look:

* First, he identified the job I had and knew he had the solution.

* Second, he was aggressive in his marketing. He didn't go forth a concern card in my mailbox, as so many others do. He became proactive to set up a personal relationship.

* Third, during the initial contact, Tim established "instant credibility" by referring to the former proprietors of the house as well as to Ron, a friend of mine and person I respect.

* Fourth, as we walked around the yard, it was clear that he knew exactly what he was doing. He had expertness and he wasn't going to kill or injury my trees. I also realized that any idea I had of doing it myself wasn't at all wise.

* Fifth, he offered something of true value to me at a very attractive price. And he explained why he could offer such as a deal price. I've learned that sometimes, "you acquire what you pay for" and a deal terms can turn into a sum loss. But in this case, his account made entire sense.

* Sixth, we chatted and joked as well. He had an piquant personality and wasn't afraid to demo it.

* Seventh, he did the occupation extremely well. The pridefulness he had in his work and repute was obvious.

* Eighth, he over delivered. He fixed 1 sprinkler caput and replaced a 2nd one at no charge. And when cleansing up, they raked the full yard. The topographic point hadn't looked so good since the twenty-four hours we bought it.

There's a few other lessons here as well ... but I believe you acquire the point.

Succeeding on the Internet doesn't have got to be an elusive or cryptic puzzle. The "real world" abounds with sound concern patterns that volition function you well on the web as well.

Ezine Publishing - Building From The Ground Up

Ezine publishing is a great way to earn revenue online. As an Ezine publisher you can earn profits by selling ad space and/or selling subscriptions. The greatest advantage of Ezine advertising is that the audience is laser targeted. It is not uncommon for larger Ezines to rake in high six to seven figure yearly revenue.

There are many routes one can take when starting a successful Ezine publication. The common problem most people have is finding out exactly where to start. In this post I'm going to outline where to begin as well as strategies to help you grow your Ezine into a success.

Pre Planning

Grab a pen and notepad and start brainstorming. Here are a few questions you need to answer.

1. What niche will your Ezine cover?

2. Who is your target audience?

3. How often will your Ezine be published?

4. Where will you generate content from?

5. How will you distribute your Ezine?

6. How will you generate subscriptions to your Ezine?

What niche will your Ezine cover?

Before you get started with your Ezine you need to identify the niche it will cover. You want to choose a niche you are very knowledgeable about. For example if I were to start an Ezine today it would be about making money on the internet. It is imperative that you choose a niche you are passionate about. Every step after this will be built upon your choice niche. Choose carefully because there is no changing your niche once you start building your Ezine.

Who is your target audience?

The success of your Ezine rests upon how accurately you define your target market. Your target audience has a direct effect on a number of choices you will make including artwork, content, advertising, etc. I suggest being specific as possible. Below I have compiled some questions that will help you narrow down your target audience.

What age group are you targeting? No more than 5 years apart.

What gender are you targeting?

What special interest do they all share?

What is the average salary you are targeting?

These are a few questions you can ask yourself to help you be as specific as possible. Challenge yourself to come up with more questions that will narrow down your audience even more.

How often will your Ezine be published?

Ezines are usually published Weekly, bi weekly, or monthly. When first starting your Ezine publication it's a good idea to publish bi weekly to monthly. I always recommend monthly for the first six months. This gives you enough time to organize and take care of unforeseen problems. The worst case scenario for a new Ezine is to miss a publication. Whichever publishing schedule you choose be sure you can stick to it.

Where will your content be generated from?

Content is the backbone of your Ezine. There are different sources you can use in order to get content for your Ezine. The main point I want to stress is quality. You want your content to be of the greatest quality possible. If readers find they enjoyed the content there is a good chance they will be reading the next issue.

Article directories are a common source for many Ezines content. Some of these directories such as Ezinearticles.com have hundreds of thousands of articles in their database that you may use as content. Even though many Ezines do it, I personally don't recommend this way. 99% of these articles are low quality. Many authors write these low quality articles for the sole purpose of generating traffic to their website. This usually results in rushed and not very informative articles. Another disadvantage is that many of these articles have already been recycled many times by other Ezine publications.

Writing your own content has always been the best way. You always want your content to be creative and have a distinct personality. Pasting together articles from random authors usually results in a lack of writing consistency. I suggest starting with a small team of great writers to help provide content. This is very useful because writing every article yourself can be very time consuming. Also you will still be able to publish your Ezine when you experience periods of writing blocks.

How will you distribute your Ezine?

Ezines are usually distributed to subscribers via email. You will need an auto responder to save and manage email lists. I use aweber.com for all my email list needs. However there are different formats you must consider when sending out your Ezine. I've seen many Ezines send html code directly in the email. I strongly recommend not doing that. I prefer putting together a great .PDF and sending a link to the .PDF in the email. This is great because you can format the Ezine to your desire, and you get more control as far as graphics, layout designs, etc.

How will you generate subscriptions to your Ezine?

Generating subscriptions can be the most difficult task if you don't have a plan. There is always the advertising method, which can get a bit costly. If you're on a tight budget and can't afford advertising I suggest building traffic through great content. I would hold off on starting an actual Ezine until I got enough traffic to continuously generate subscriptions.

I suggest starting off with a blog. Buy your domain than install Wordpress.org on it. Start updating your blog everyday with great articles you've written for your niche. Sign up for social book marking websites such ass blogcatalog.com and mybloglog.com. Visit similar blogs and exchange links. You want to get your blog popular in the blogosphere of your niche. Commenting on similar blogs is a great way to start networking and generating targeted traffic to you blog. Make sure you update as much as possible with great content. This process may take 4-6 months before you start generating enough steady traffic to start publishing your Ezine.

Website Marketing Strategies - A Beginners Guide to Website Marketing Strategies

One of the most important parts about building a website is website marketing strategies, which is what will bring readers or consumers to your site.

For someone who does not have a lot of experience with marketing, this task can be severely terrifying, but luckily it has become easier than ever to learn about marketing strategies. You can market your website, you can drive traffic to your business, and you can improve your sales! There's no need to be afraid!

First Step: Keyword research should be the absolute first thing on your mind. Do not create your web site until you have done research on relevant keywords relating to your business. Find out which keywords are being searched for, and choose the ones that relate to your business or the product that you are offering.

Once you know what consumers are looking for, you can model your website to fit the keywords that are being searched for but that have the least possible competition, and that is what will drive traffic to your site!

Second Step: Create your website around your chosen keywords! Once you know which keywords you are planning to use, keyword-rich content can be written for each one. Your website should be built around these content pages, in order to make sure that your entire website is riddled with useful and relevant keywords.

You should not simply spam your webpages with your keywords, because most search engines are smart enough not to fall for it. But if your webpages have well-written content with relevant keywords, and you will have excellent chances for search engines to pick your webpages up, attracting all kinds of new visitors to your website.

Third Step: Design the actual site, now that the content has been written. Now that the bulk of your website has been put together, you can put together the design of your site in a clean and functional way. Avoid large graphics and any extras that may make your website load more slowly. You should also make sure that all JavaScript and HTML errors are removed. Now that your website is error-free and loading fast, marketing your online business will be much easier!

Fourth Step: Gain links to your website, by getting your website listed in as many major web directories as possible. Most search engines only give good rankings to websites that have many different links to them.

Once your website has been listed in some of the top-ranking search engines, you should work on finding other websites in the same niche as yours to see if anyone is willing to trade links with you. Exchanging links with other similar niche sites will help your search engine ranking, and will help you meet other niche businesses on the web.

Fifth Step: Bring targeted visitors to your website now, instead of waiting for the search engines to index your sites. Google AdWords may help you accomplish this, by helping to advertise your website by bringing traffic to your website based on your keywords.

For most niches, the quality of traffic that AdWords brings is excellent, and you will see visitors as early as thirty minutes after signing up for your new Google AdWords account.

Marketing an online business really is not difficult, as long as you follow all of the steps as outlined above.

Marketing - How Do You Know What Is Working?

If you've been in business some time - you will have more than one marketing strategy going on - so how do you find out which one is working?

Split testing is the answer. What is that? As the implies – you are splitting your campaigns and testing them separately. You do this by marking each of your marketing campaigns in some way so that you know where your traffic and sales are coming from and which campaign is the most successful. Here are a few ideas as to how to do this.

1) Direct each campaign to a different company contact – be it web site, domain, email address or phone number. VOIP telephone numbers are very inexpensive these days as are domains.

2) Give your customers a discount coupon and use a different coupon code for each of your campaigns.

3) Use a slightly different mix of products for each campaign - take care not to use different prices though as your customers might come from two different campaigns.

4) If using Pay Per Click (PPC) then use your online account to separate each campaign.

Running through your receipts and web stats will soon tell you which is the most successful marketing campaign you have. Make changes to your campaigns as you feel the need. Use different by lines, headers, graphics and contents and experiment to see which campaigns have the best effect. Also have a look at the products you are selling and the market that you are targeting. Often subtle changes are all that is required.
